The aspiration to work alongside visionary leaders and inspiring bosses is nearly universal, and yet so few ever even try to master leading themselves. Aspirational leadership, as many see it, is something others need to do.

It is true that external recognition, more than ever, overshadows internal development. On that basis, it has never been more important to forge a personal path of self-leadership to cultivate greatness from within.

The ability to inspire yourself is a testament to your inner strength; as is finding your "why" which keeps you engaged even when external motivators are absent. Of my clients that truly outperform their peers are those that learn to light their own fire and keep it burning through the highs and lows, those who craft a version of success that is uniquely theirs.

The intriguing observation I have come to make coaching high-achievers is this: those that achieve are those who breathe a relentless pursuit of self-improvement, to lead themselves in directions others only dream of.

So, as you look towards this weekend, and your next big goal, remember that it starts by leading yourself to greatness. Becoming your best self is not about finding yourself but rather creating yourself, one step at a time.

🥳 The power of investing in yourself: Last week, I participated in the luxury and business retreat mastermind in Mexico hosted by my dear friend and fellow coach, Diana YK Chan. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my day-to-day documentation of this journey. This was an epic experience I won't soon forget. We came together not just as career coaches, but women supporting women in our biggest goals and dreams. We laughed, we cried, we bonded and most importantly, we embraced collaboration over competition. Every time I invest in myself, I make quantum leaps in my business results. It truly is the most profitable investment you can make because when you learn how to get to where you want to go faster, it's absolutely priceless!

🍿 Watch this (YouTube): Acclaimed lecturer (and apparently one of the greatest classes) at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Carole Robin breaks down incredibly practical tips on building exceptional relationships, how to actually provide feedback (and avoid defensiveness when receiving it) and more. A must listen.

📚 Read this: I first read "Pour Your Heart Into It" by Howard Schultz (former Chairman and CEO of Starbucks) years ago when I had recently been promoted to manage a team at L'Oréal. Re-reading it today as an entrepreneur is absolutely inspiring and just as refreshing as it was the first time I picked it up.

In my view, he remains one of the great business leaders of the past few decades; his passion, humility, vision, storytelling and resolve are enlightening. An amazing read on leadership, purpose with heart and the power of anchoring your values into everything you do.

I'm celebrating my client who just signed the offer for a 3 month contract role she was targeting, and secured a salary well above the average pay rate for this position.
